Job Description

The program is designed to teach the building blocks of sports communications skills – you will have the ability to write valuable editorials, spearhead meaningful department projects and represent the Club in various capacities. Candidates can expect to gain valuable professional experience!

  • Work 10-15 hours per week in the Sacramento Republic FC Front Office, as well as all home matches
  • Assist the Communications Manager in the creation of all weekly updates and game notes
  • Draft articles for the Club’s website & email communications, including coverage of the Club’s youth academy
  • Maintain an up-to-date spreadsheet of player and Club statistics & records
  • Research and collect Club-related news clips to produce monthly earned media reports
  • Game day duties as assigned, including press box set-up, recording and transcribing postgame press conferences and assisting with match recaps
  • Administrative duties, such as preparing media credentials for game days, setting press box seating charts and coordinating meals for media
  • Learn the Club’s history and stay current with the 2019 season (e.g., game results, player transactions)
  • Such other duties consistent with the position as may be assigned to you from time to time.



  • Available during the entire USL Championship season (March – October 2019)
  • Strong writing skills with knowledge of AP Style
  • Current enrollment at, or degree received from, a college/university in Public Relations, Communications, Sports Management, or a related field
  • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact comfortably and effectively with internal and external clients at all levels of an organization
  • Extremely coachable (i.e., responds well to constructive feedback) and eager to learn every day
  • Highly motivated and ambitious
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required (most home games are on Saturdays)
  • Basic proficiency using Adobe Suite programs, specifically Adobe InDesign
  • Strong communication skills and sharp attention to detail
  • Comfortable navigating statistical information
  • Knowledge of soccer highly preferred
  • Knowledge of Republic FC and the United Soccer League highly preferred, but not required
  • Prior experience in the sports industry preferred, but not required
  • Must provide own laptop
